In less than two years, membership blossomed and message activity often matched or
exceeded the Disney section! Jimmy Buffett himself
would leave an occasional message. Then Jill masterminded a
series of live backstage conferences with Jimmy and the Coral
Reefers.
The success of the VPHC was recognized by the official Jimmy
Buffett Parrot Head Club sanctioning body, Parrot Heads in
Paradise, when it granted the VPHC an official charter... the
first, and only online Parrot Head Club!
With the introduction of a VPHC web site in the spring of 1996,
Jill's dream was given international exposure.
The growing desire to join the VPHC without the requirement of
CompuServe membership was visible on the web site's Scribble's
page. Joining the movement of the computer industry toward a
"point and click" desktop environment that considers the World
Wide Web just another folder, the VPHC Board of Directors, after
long and careful consideration, decided to open the membership up
to everyone, regardless of how they access the club's facilities.
Jill's dream has grown to global proportions. By joint agreement
with the VPHC and PHiP, the Virtual Parrot Head Club will be the
only Parrot Heads in Paradise-sanctioned online Parrot Head Club,
bringing all online Parrot Heads under one organization.
On November 15, 1996, membership to the Virtual Parrot Head Club
was open to anyone with access to the World Wide Web, or the
ability to email from any online service. Membership to the VPHC
provides all rights and privileges of a fully sanctioned Parrot
Heads in Paradise chapter.
