I be concerned about the lack of information on the website?
We recently joined because there is no club in the Palm

finally being a part of the group! Any suggestions on
making the most of our membership?

CHPHC s TropRock Songwriters Show hosted by Sunny Jim
We are planning the most awesome afternoon of all original
Trop Rock music you have ever heard on Sunday at the Nav-A-
Gator (The #1 Trop Rock Venue in the USA) as our last day
of professional entertainment for our Birthday Party
CHPHC s 2nd TRIP AROUND THE SUN. Sunny Jim will be
hosting this fantastic event as he does each year at Blue
Heaven in Key West on the last day of MOTM. The purpose of
the event is to welcome new Trop Rock music into the Parrot
Head world. We will have a killer lineup of
singer/songwriters and all of their CDs will be available
for purchase all three days of the event. The highlight of
this Songwriter Show is that each one of the songwriters
will be introducing a brand new original Trop Rock song
during the show. How KEWL is that!?
Here are the Trop Rock singer/songwriters who will be
performing:
Sunny Jim , John Frinzi , Jack Mosley , Capt Josh , Island
Bill Haughey , Dave Murphy , Eric Ellis , John Friday ,
Cindy Walsh , Jimi Pappas ,John Patti
This is going to be an event you are not going to want to
miss . . . Eleven! Yes, ELEVEN Trop Rock
singer/songwriters and each one of them will be introducing
a brand new Trop Rock song for us that day at the Nav-A-
Gator.
Free Trolleys will be providing rides to the different
venues, so you do not have to worry about drinking and
driving .. Whew!
The Charlotte County Homeless Coalition is our charity for
this event, the same as last year. Last year we raised
over $4500 for them, we are hoping for over $10,000 this
year.
All of this is being held in Paradise, here in Southwest
Florida on beautiful Charlotte Harbor. Please visit our
web site for the registration forms and details.
www.CHPHC.com/birthday.html
Looking forward to seeing you all there to help us
celebrate our 2nd birthday.

was stuck in @ detroit metro airport waitin for my flight
at gate 20 when they started lining up for the big bird to
Baltimore. a nice say 2 year old strolled over and asked
what's that. pinting @ my ipod nano, so i told her, and she
played with the buttons, i flipped the nano arround and the
screen pic rotates as you turn it and we listened to jimmy
sing jolly mon. my new little friends mom kept saying
don't bug the nice man (i have rarely been called a nice
man), but i said she is no trouble as she danced arround
and started singing with jimmy. after the 6th go round they
called the flight and mom scooped her up ans they where off
to Balitmore. it's the little things in life like this that
make life worth living, gotta make new friends and
entertain the kids when you can. i bet she grows up to be a

it grows back thicker. Maybe we ought to consider waxing or
a Nair product. Feedback?

Hey, I usually drop in here this time of year to tell
everyone to have a good time along with a drink for me! I
have to say, this is the first time since the infamous
unregistered trip I made back in '03 that I REALLY wish I
was heading down. I am in need of a vacation, but having
recently bought a house MOTM wasn't in the budget. I'm
going to feel very left out in a couple weeks.
Fortunately, I'm nowhere near retirement yet, so I'm riding
the Wall Street storm out. Man is it painful!!!

Hey 12volt,
Good to see you online. Sorry to hear Compuserve is closed
down. We do still have members that read the posts but
most folks seem to chat on BuffettNews or JimmyDreamz
during work hours. All our regulars are still around they
just don't seem to have time to get online and post.
I didn't make it to KW this year for the convention. But
reports are coming in that the parrot heads have landed and
registration is underway. The weather is warm and windy
but no threat of storms.
Remit, told me last year that he was skipping the MOTM to
take his family to Italy. He hangs with the WAPHC for his
parrot head fix.
Didn't you go to Vegas for the concert again this year?

MAN is it quiet in these parts! Wonder where everyone has
wandered off to? A couple posts from Sun over the summer.
No posts reporting on shows (which we didn't get in Detroit
this year). And now, the week of MOTM, and there has been
one post?!?!? No shave down post from Remit?
Just wanted to tell everyone out there (is anyone out
there?) to have a great time in KW this weekend! Y'all
stay out of trouble. Remit, if you're around, please check
the time of your return flight when it's time to go home!
Hoist one for 12 V, who won't be making the journey this
year.
And Stan, welcome to the club! Sorry nobody has sent an
official welcome. This used to be a much more lively place
to be! Maybe one day we'll return to our former glory.
In a related note, the CompuServe Florida Forum, the
original home of this group, is now closed due to lack of
activity. I've tried to come up with reasons why these
online groups have faded to nothing, but can't really come
up with anything concrete. Any ideas???

My hand are still on fire from playing the bongos. I had a
blast jamming with Tall Paul. unfortunately I lost my
camera with all my videos and pictures from the Bottle Cap
party and much more. If anyone has video footage of the
VPHC party or at least pictures, I would appreciate them
greatly. The week in Key West was out of control, and room
350 will never be the same @ the Casa. I'm sure the
cleaning people where glad we left. I'm glad the walls
can't talk. If I can get my band to play down in Key West

Remit, I talked to Schick. They are getting a huge response

hair washes down it. I may not be able to get it done, they
aren't sure they make a formula strong enough to cut through
that much hair.

World Series or no World Series, it's cold and rainy here
in the Midwest, and in Detroit in particular. Funny thing
is, this afternoon, coming from the east, I heard a sound
which I at first thought was a lawn mower. Strange, since
the lawns here haven't grown in weeks. I listened more
closely, and then it hit me. That was no lawn mower, it
was the power razor warming up for the big shave down!

As I sit here pondering what has happened the past 11

things in life such as "Hair Growth". And as I stand "Alas

Thanks for the report, Remit! Sounds like we both got
great shows. I have to agree, it would be great to see
Jimmy and Fingers kiss and make up. I didn't see Sonny
Landreth or Bill Payne listed as members of the CRB on the
MSG setlist. Were they there? If not, you really did get
a stripped down version of the band, and I'd imagine that
let Fingers stand out even more. And you're right,
hearing him blow that harp during Pirate really did bring
a tear to my eye. A sign of things to come, I hope!

And 12Volt the Garden show in NYC Thurs was superb.....and
upgrading outselves from worst to best seats in the house

Those corporate boyzz should come to the shows they get

the Parrothead nation roam around that hallowed concert
hall and making it easy for a person like myself to
squeeze into 300.00 seats.....aahahaha!!
Anyway, Fingers is BACK......played just as many to more
songs with Jimmy in NYC the other night...he looked fit as
a fiddle and bringing back the old times with a more
stripped band. Mr. Taylor running around Jimmy on stage
again...it brought a tear to my eyes I tell ya!! Hopefully
this will become a regular habit and everyone can get a
taste of sharin' that old feelin' again....

Hey Phlock!
Just wanted to let you know that you all missed a
fantastic show in Detroit last night! 26 song set list,
no intermission due to a crummy night as far as the
weather goes. We were treated to Fingers joining the band
for Peanut Butter Conspiracy, Son of a Son and Pirate
Looks at 40, which was the last song of the night. What a
treat! The band sounded great. Robert and Peter got to
play solos leading into Desperation Samba, and they were
incredible! One of the best shows I've ever seen!

Hello all,
Meeting of the Minds 2006 "Island Daze" is almost sold out.
We have only 98
spots left.
We will be closing registration by the end of the week.
Once we close
registration we will NOT accept any late registrants no
matter what the excuse is.
Here is the deal... We will accept any mailed in
registration as long as it
is POSTMARKED by Saturday August 5. We will leave online
registration open
until Sunday afternoon, August 6 at 1:00 PM EASTERN
STANDARD TIME. That is 10:00
AM on the left coast.
If you plan on coming, or know someone who plans to, it is
time. As I stated
above we will NOT accept any late registrations.
This year is really shaping up to be awesome with the
addition of Jerry
Jeff Walker for our 15th anniversary and the other big
stage shows like The
Peter Mayer Group, Scott Kirby Band, Mac McAnally, Club
Trini, The Jonathan
Birchfield Band, Tropical Soul and The Saturday Beach Bash
with The Sunny Jim
Band, Jimmy & The Parrots, Boat Drunks and Jim Morris & The
Big Bamboo Band.
And all of the duo's, trio's and acoustic acts on the small
beach stage not to
mention all of the off site bands and musicians playing
this year. The
music festival is bigger than we have ever had before and I
fully anticipate it
being the best.
Thanks

Greetings,
My name is Brandon Marger, and I am a member of the band "Changes In
Latitudes," which is the world's premier Jimmy Buffett tribute band. We are a
nine piece band which recreates the experience of a Jimmy Buffett concert
with the same authenticity as the "Beatlemania" show recreates the sights and
sounds of the "Fab 4."
I had the pleasure to come across your website today. Thanks for maintaining
this great site. I invite you to visit our website at
www.ChangesInLatitudes.com and check out what we are about.
Besides faithfully rendering the music of Jimmy Buffett, we have just recorded
our second CD of original Trop-Rock music. You will be able to find the new
CD, which is entitled "Tequila Inspiration" (in addition to our first CD "By The
Sea") on our website, at CDBaby.com and TowerRecords.com, and on some
other select online vendors of all things tropical.
Hopefully we will get the opportunity to visit your particular harbor soon to
play for you.
Phins up,
Brandon

I felt bad because the day I talked to you, the

12Volt..you should have dropped everything and came. I've
had "eh" years and "Yay" years, this one was a "Special"
year. Never felt so fulfilled, made sure I didn't get too
stagnated (Cheryl and the gals will agree to that), and
got to see different things I usually don't. The one
memory that will stick with me this year, is when I
decided to take a jog across the island from N.Rooselvelt
to the Reach and while on my run viewing the mess that
Wilma made....if you didn't get away from the usually
tourist and PH haunts you really didn't see it. But
noticeing the locals just cleaning house from Wilma' wake
was heartbreaking.......what a mess she made for those
people.
12 Volt you caught me at a very UP time on that
balcony...it happened to be the corner overlooking the
stage this year....caught Scott W. and the Misses in the
crowd and finally got his attention to come up and join
us, which he did.
Sheila, thanks for getting the fine pholks at M'ville to
finally reach us with the beads from the bldg. windows
across the way.........really got crazy there for a second.
Janice....we'll always have Hugo.....thanks for holding me
up in the wee hours each night.
Cheryl....as always...kisses to you and the gals {;*
Labrat and Wyldman.....hey, the Pats won today...I thought
you guys were about to hit "Jets land" but nice rebound.
Great sharing beers with you guys at the Conch on Monday
night!
Deb and Drifty.......man that was a quick hello and
goodbye....got spend more time throwin' them back next
year.
Well.......until next time pholks....at least we have our
pictures to enjoy as we all dry out...............Later

What did I learn at MOTM 2005 (my first time):
It's the most fun I have had in quite some time
Meeting fellow VPHC pholks at CR was an honor
Fishing in the KW is great
Choosing the Keith Sykes/Larry Joe Taylor show at the Reach
over the CR block party was the best decision I made the
whole time
Sunset at Mallory Square (tourist or not) was outstanding
Working security was a trip (I'll sign up again next year)
Having lunch with Robert Greenidge at B.O.'s Fish Wagon
Sunday was cool
Blue Heaven breakfast was excellent (went twice)
Meeting pholks from all over the world was something I won't
forget
Having to go to work Thursday (after getting home late Wed)
sucked
The best 7 days I have ever had
The fact that the organizers and residents of KW could be
able to accommodate MOTM in the wake of Wilma impressed me
the most
We did good!!!!!!!!

all systems seem go. People are pouring in everyday since
last friday and even an impromptu "Fantasy Fest" broke out
on Saturday!! The PH's are telling me that our favorite
bars and restaurants are opening and ready...and happy we
are coming. The only interruption I've encountered was
being moved to "The REACH". Not so bad being that it's
still the host hotel.
Well all my lovelies see you in KW in just about 48 hours.
Morris pre party and after show Hugo awaits me!! And to

Just wanted to say I attended the concert at Madison
Square Garden, From The Big Apple To The Big Easy. It was
an amazing concert, Jimmy was great as usuual, but to see
Simon and Garfunkel together after 20 something years,
they were unreal. Everyone was really good, John Fogerty
sounded like he was with the original Creedance Clearwater
Revival. Bill Clinton introduced him! If anyone wants a
copy of the concert, let me know I got it on pay per view
and taped it on my digital cables DVR so I have been
transferring it to VHS tapes. The concert was about 5 and
a half hours. It was truely a once in a lifetime event.
I'm not going to make it this year to the MOTM, I've
decided to donate the money I saved for the trip to the
hurricane funds, Habitat for Humanity is the top of my
list since they are actually building houses for the
victims. So have fun everyone and I'll see you next year.

Hi all.....I received this note yesterday from the editor
of Tropical Pleasures magazine, Paul Leslie. It concerns a
member of the VPHC, one that had planned on making it to
MOTM this year. Zack is 23 years old and a nice guy - I
met him last year in Key West. Please read the following
letter. Thanks.....Janice
There is a VPHC member and Parrot Head who is really
in bad shape right now. He's been my good friend for
the last 15 years and he's a wonderful guy.
The root of health problems was found to be cancer
and he has started chemotherapy. He has lost a lot
of weight <and hair, but is sporting a freakin'
mohawk ;) >
He's getting around a little on a cane, but still has
a really good attitude and is keeping the faith. He
even brushed off the fact that he's gonna miss MOTM.
What a guy! He's really being a trooper.
He has been relegated to laying down most of the time.
I went by to see him and he's basically just bored
out of his mind. He's too weak to really leave the
house so he's looking for something (movies, music,
and books) to stimulate him. I picked him up a CD
and it really lit his face-up.
Perhaps you could get the word out to the club
members...I asked him if he would like it if people
could drop him a line. He says he'd like it. He's
friendly and would love it if anyone would drop him a
note...or sent him something to interrupt the
boredom.

My heart goes out to the huricane victims and survivors. I
want to contribute whatever I can to the relief effort. I
propose that if you have any loose change in your pocket
you do the same. What these people are experiencing is
beyond our grasp. They have lost everything. Let's see if
we can help them hang onto their lives. That is all they
have. If you would like to contribute to the RedCross
relief effort, email me at givingback@vphc.com We have a
paypal account and you can snail mail contributions if you
do not have a way to access it. Email me and I will direct
you.

Hi Phlock,
I am targeting the next auction for the early part of
August. If you would like to earn VPHC Island Time Points
by donating items for our Charity Auctions contact Sunchaser
(Gwyn) at givingback@vphc.com
There are a couple of ways you can donate. You may send me
a picture and discription of the items you wish to sell and
then mail them directly to the bidder. If you do not have a
way to do this you may mail your items to me and I will
handl them completely. If that is the case, let me know and
I will give you an address as to where to send them.
The items do not necessarily have to be Parrot Head related,
but it helps. Let's work together to make this next auction
even better than the last.
Fins always up!

Hey Pholks!
Just wanted to let you in on a unique experience I had
last night. I went to a concert in the park even near me
to see a Buffett cover band, Air Margaritaville. I've
seen them many times and they do a pretty good job. Well,
last night was better than most other shows I've seen,
mainly due to their special guest performer, one Amy Lee!
Apparently Amy goes way back with the band, and since
she's not working right now decided to join them. She
sounded great and really added to the show. I also picked
up her latest CD, Use Me, and highly recommend it!
Then, to top the evening off, when they band was working
up to Fins, Mr. Fingers Taylor showed up on stage to blow
his harp! Quite a treat, if I do say so myself!
All in all, it was a very enjoyable, and surprising,
evening!

Hey all y'all.....last year our newsletter featured Hugo
Duarte and his music. Hugo is in the process of recording
a new CD right now! This CD will be available for MOTM,
but if you want to get a jump on things you can pre-order
now on our Forum. I have listed it under PH Performers (I
think :) ). Either call the 800 number listed on the
order form or copy and paste to a new file and snail mail
it. And if all else fails, email me and I'll send you a
form myself!!! Thanks!!!!!

Hi Everyone,
There are some changes to our Virtual PHC chat room.
Sunchaser (Gwyn) has done a great job for us these past
years, but has decided to take a break and spend her Sunday
evenings on new adventures.
Our new Chat Moderator, Allen (aka Joe_Pyrat) is from New
Mexico and has some great ideas for our chats.
There are some changes.....
Chats will take place bi-weekly beginning Wednesday,
July 20th at 9:00PM Eastern Stardard Time.
The first chat will be free style, but the plan is to have
members attending chats decide on a topic for the next
chat.
Please join me in welcoming Joe_Pyrat to our Chats. And now
a self-introduction from our new Chat Room Moderator >>>>>
Hello fellow Parrotheads!
I have volunteered to be the Chat Moderator so
introductions are in order. I came to be a Parrothead, not
through listening to music, but rather through sailing. I
kept hearing my fellow sailors talking about this Jimmy
Buffett guy and finally bought a CD. Here was a guy who
was singing about my life style and since he is only a
couple of years older than I am, he was making references
to things I remembered from childhood, like Captain Adam
Troy and the Adventures in Paradise TV show. The song I
most relate to is A Pirate Looks at 40 , since I too have
heard Mother Ocean s call from about the time I was three
feet tall.
My current plans are to retire in about a year and eight
months and sail off to the Caribbean. My boat is currently
in the process of being restored and readied for this
task. She will go to Main in a few months for the
restoration which should take the better part of a year,
then, around April of 07, she and I are off to see the
lizard, so to speak.
I am looking forward to meeting my fellow VPHC members and
to lots of great chat. See you in the chat room.
Allen, AKA Joe Pyrat
Stop by the chat room on Wednesday and say hello.

according to Ticketmaster, Jimmy will be appearing at the
MGM Grand on October 22nd and 29th. Tickets go on sale this
coming Monday at 10:00 AM Las Vegas time. I think I'm going

Hello Phellow Parrot Heads!!
Are you still thinking of attending MOTM? Are you already
registered and want to know where we are so that you can
encourage others within your club to register? If so, read
on....
Many pheathered phriends have been emailing, requesting to
know how registration is progressing and how soon it will
be closed. To answer that question - as of this evenings
update, we have 2844 phellow phlockers registered to
attend! This is very impressive for this early in the
year. We have never had this many people registered in
June before. Last year we sold out for the first time in
July and we were only going to 3000. This year, we
probably will sell out in July or August and we are going
to 3500.
So... if you know of anyone that has not registered and
they are planning on attending this year, you may want to
encourage them to register either online or via snail
mail. They may not want to wait till September to
register. There may not be any spots left if they wait
that long!
Registration has moved very quickly this year since it
opened on January 1. There have been very few days when
there were less than 20-30 registrations received per day,
so these remaining spots will fill up very quickly!!
Some things that you need to remember:
1. Registrations are not transferable.
2. We cannot "hold" your registration place; payment in
full must be included with your registration.
3. You must be registered to attend all the events
scheduled at MOTM.
4. Everyone must be registered. This means a registered
person may NOT bring a date, spouse or significant other
and expect that person to be permitted to attend MOTM
events as your guest.
Please do your fellow club members a favor and talk to
them, tell them we are almost full and it is time to
register before it is to late. We have been cautioning you
all and this is just one more note reminding you that we
will be stopping registration at 3500...

Phun Phun Phun, thats all I can say about the opening of
the Cincinnati Cheeseburger in Paradise. Everything was
great. The people, the staff, the band and party....the
weather was lots of falling snow but it was cool being in
such a warm atmosphere and seeing the snow thru the big
glass doors. Cheeseburger treated us great, not only was
there plenty of corona, margaritas and Cheeseburger's
specialty drinks there was open bar, there was plenty of
finger foods, ribs, ham & turkey sandwiches, onion straws,
salad, sweet potato chips, wings, these mavelous shrimp
fritters and crab cakes and of course their famous mini
cheeseburgers (more like steak burgers) and then to finish
the night they served Key Lime pie. My favoites were the
shrimp fritters and the mini Cheeseburger. The bartenders
were juggling liquor bottles and they had a cool flame
thrower thing going on. It was a fun time and the staff
was extremely friendly and well organized. Check it out
when you can. Thanks to Outback/Cheeseburger and everyone
involved.
Of course I must mention the whole event took in near
$15,000 for the Michael W Bany Scholarship foundation to
provide scholarships for deserving young musicians. Go to
www.baney.tv to learn more about the foundation.
The Cincinnati PHC was there in force and there were parrot
heads from Ocala, Erie and various other areas.

Funny you should mention that, Remit. Seems to me that in
2003 when I was down there unregistered, the only reason I
wasn't registered was that I decided to go in October, after
the deadline. I don't remember registration closing at all
that year. I could be wrong. Last year, they were filled
up in early summer, but there were also all the prodding
emails. Maybe without those emails, the event wouldn't sell
out at all?

One of the reasons why MOTM's sells out quicker and quicker
each year is mainly because of such emails sent out by the
PHIP board to quicken the registration process. I for one
am annoyed at these emails, they only lead to people
squabbling over rooms so early in the year and selling the
Casa out on paper, and not pocket, only to find out they
can't go which leads to canceling their reservations last
minute screwing everyone up. What ever happened to letting
this great event sellout naturally........3000 does not a
lot of parrotheads make! The people at the Wyndham can rest
assure they'll all be back to drive them nutzo yet another
year and dump loads of cash into their registers once again.
To the powers at be at the PHIP.............chill on the
registration alerts, I'm still paying credit card bills
generated from MOTM 04!!...............................Later

Here is an FYI about the Meeting of the Minds 2005 from
PHIP president.
It's been a week since we quietly opened MOTM 2005 "Conky
Tonkin' In Key West" Registration. Alex has been busy
lining up the musicial acts and venues and seeing what else
he can do for us. This year promises to be an exciting
year.
Now, folks as you know we do close registration at 3000
people. Last year we closed just after the middle of July.
Well, folks after only a week we have over 10% of the spots
filled. That is right over 300 folks registered in a week.
This is more than we had the whole month of January last
year. At this rate we could fill registration by the middle
of March. If you are considering attending the convention
you may want to register now.

Hurricane, I hear what you say. Prospective, we are
trying. CBIP opening in Cincinnati is a long time coming
for us and patience has turned to skepticisim as Cincinnati
was suppose to be the home of one of the first CBIP's in
the Midwest; back at the same time the Indianapolis CBIP
opened...2 years ago. You still want to talk patience? I
didn't think so.
Happy Holidays!

Sun, to put some perspective on the CBIP, realize not all
of us even have a glimmer of hope of having one in our
cities. I live in the self-proclaimed "Music Capitol of
the World" where Sixth Street reigns and music is born
INCLUDING the song, Margaritaville. We ain't getting a
CBIP here as far as I know. Be patient and you'll have a
lovely and wonderful phlocking spot in due course, I'm
sure.

Cheeseburger in Paradise will not be opening in January
after all. The opening date (today anyway) will now be the
first part of February....ha, maybe we can make it by
concert time; after all it's only the 4th time the date has
been pushed back. LOL. I have been watching the
construction of CIP and it has been slow, everytime I go
past you see a few construction workers standing around
with their hands on their hips and talking. It's not a big
CIP and the concrete was poured in the summer, steel studs
are in place and walls erected. Stay tuned for more update
news.

It's time to party with a purpose!!!!!
Surviving the Storm Hurricane Benefit Events at Jimmy
Buffett's Margaritaville
Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band will be performing
a special concert on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at the T.D.
Waterhouse Centre in Orlando, Florida, to raise relief
funds for Florida, Alabama and the Caribbean.
In conjunction with the concert, Jimmy Buffett's
Margaritaville will be holding a three-day event during
which money will be raised to go into the same Hurricane
Relief fund.
On Sunday, November 21, 2004 there will be a Caribbean-
themed Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction. We will be
honoring some of our local meteorologists as well as Jim
Cantore of the Weather Channel who all weathered the storms
right beside us during this overwhelming hurricane season.
Surprise celebrity guests will also be part of the
excitement!
On Monday, November 22, 2004, Margaritaville will be
hosting a Singer/Songwriter Benefit Showcase. Parrot Head
favorites Sunny Jim, Jim Morris and John Frinzi will all be
performing live on the main stage from 8pm-12am. Admission
price, bar revenue and a portion of bartender gratuities
will be donated to the relief fund.
In the Margaritaville tradition, on Tuesday, November 23rd
there will be a tailgate party on the Porch of Indecision
and Lone Palm Airport (outdoor areas surrounding
Margaritaville). Live entertainment from 11am-7pm, Jimmy
Buffett concert ticket giveaways, drink specials and a LIVE
broadcast of the Hurricane Relief Concert starting at 8pm
with proceeds going to the relief fund.
In addition to the fund raising activities scheduled for
November 21st-23rd at the Orlando location,
there will also be fund-drives at the Margaritavilles in
Key West, Myrtle Beach, Las Vegas and New Orleans from
November 9th-23rd, during which members of the local
communities will be able to drop off tax-deductible
donations to the Surviving the Storm Relief Fund.
All café locations will be also be broadcasting the
Surviving the Storm Hurricane Benefit Concert LIVE on 11/23
and collecting donations for the relief fund at the door.

Yo ho ho, Matt! I don't really think I need to kick you. I
think some of us have done enough kicking of ourownselves!
The worst thing is having a friend who's there calling you
every day, just to let you know what you're missing! Today
he was on the beach at the Casa, listening to Jim Morris.
Then he was going to the Blue Heaven, and finishing the
night at Schooners.
I'm guessing the weekend to target next year will be Nov 2
through the 6th, if they follow the pattern of holding MOTM
the week after fantasy fest. It's penciled in my Franklin
Planner already!

Well I am definiltey kicking myself right now, and I'm
asking that you, Merm and 12V, kick me too! I think we
all need a good kick right about now. I was sitting at
dinner tonight and I was drifting away, Rachel asked what
was on my mind..I said oh I just wish I were in Key West
with all of my great Parrothead Phriends! She said you
should have went! I was kicking myself then. haha Next
year she said, and I think I agree... Next year is
definite. Anyone looking for an EARLY roomie!?
MERM - I was on the west coast of FL during Frances too!
I was stuck in Fort Myers one night, Naples 2 nights, and
then Marco Island for the rest of the week. Wish I had
known you were around!
Missing all of you guys, and kicking myself HARD....

MOTM 04 is in full swing. Jimmy was here on Thursday night
and played for about an hour at the Casa. It was a real good
time.
Fridays VPHC party at the Sand was awesome. The Boats Drunks
put us all in the party mood.
The weather is here.. wish you were beautiful..

Well, pholks, I got my beautiful t-shirt in the mail on
Wednesday! It's snowing in Ottawa today, and freezing, too,
so I certainly wish I were with you in KW. I am hoping to
go to PardiGras in New Orleans come January; I enjoyed
BSOBS last year.... and the weather felt great, too. Anyone
else heading that way? Or any other phlockings with good
weather?

Hey Merm! I think we're the only two left here! I told
the CompuServe group last week that we need to make it a
point to get to MOTM next year! I need to plan early.
I do take some consolation in the fact that I saw Jimmy in
Vegas last month, and had a great time. I think our show
was better than the one I heard last night, but the
atmosphere at the Casa was probably a bit better.
And all you Parrot Heads entering day 3 of MOTM, you better
behave down there!

down south with the gang to enjoy the fun and warm weather.
Never fear, we'll be there next year FOR SURE! I did get
a small taste of the Keys this fall until Frances forced
us out of the Keys and up to the west coast. The whole
trip gave new meaning to "trying to reason with the
hurricane season"....whew! Had our first snow fall on
Monday :-( Keep asking "is it summer yet???" Hope
everyone down at MOTM has a great time...have some drinks
for those of us who are wishin' we were there!

Well, now I'm just kicking myself all over the lower
peninsula of Michigan! As I type, Bubba is at the Casa,
doing a bit of an impromptu show. Got a call from Remit,
wondering why I wasn't there. And I'm sitting here
wondering the same thing! Talked to another friend who's
there, and he said the weather in Key West in beautiful!
All in all, sounds like everyone is having a great time.
Anyone else kicking themselves, wishing they were somewhere
other than here?

I'm and sitting here wondering how many of you are already
sipping on their frozen beverages as the warm tropical
breeze whispers sweet tails of margaritaville in your ear. I
am staring outside, watching the leaves fall off the trees,
as I slave over a hot computer, anticipating how it will
feel to touch down in KW, and step off of that plane. The
feeling of warm air blasting towards me as I soak up the
beautiful Florida sunshine. Ah yes just a few more hours.
Well its almost time to go home and pack my suite case with
shorts, sandels and t-shirts. I can't wait to see all my
parrothead friends, and get down to some serious drinking. I
have been practicing my partying for a few weeks now (Thanks
to the Red Sox). YYYYYEEEAAAAHHHH!!!! they finally did it.
Sorry Remit :-(. I think I got this drinking thing down
pretty good. Anyway see you all there, and tell Key West the

Sun, GREAT message! Just a little additional food for
thought. You neighbors are out there in great numbers
placing their votes. EACH of you need to cast your own
ballots. This election may be determined by just a few
votes. If you want to have a voice, if you care about the
outcome of the election, get out there and say your piece
with your vote. It DOES make a difference! We have early
voting in Texas (nice) and it took all of five minutes out
of my day. I rewarded myself with a breakfast taco :) So
go vote, then do something nice for yourself for doing
your civic duty!

Well pholks, been a while since I actually typed more than
10 words on this here board, which happens to be where
Remit was introduced to MOTM's back in 1998! To a "few" of
you who visit the PHIP boards you probably are aware that I
am in the middle of my annual pre - MOTM shave down, and
you can only imagine how painful that could be. I swore to
my phellow parrotheadz, FlamingoBoys, and phriends of all
color and gender that I would bring as less hair attached
to my body as possible so there are no mishaps involving
returning drinks or food with follicular activity in it. So
as I approach week 2 of shave down I am checking in with
all my VPHC brothers and sisters to tell you I am well,
shave down is going uh..ok, and most of all Remit will
finally post a "pick 'O' the week" for all of us
approaching Paradise!
If any of you have listened to Hugo Duarte's "Another Day
in Paradise" CD you'll notice a gem called "Hillbilly
Beach". Whether or not the rumours are true that this
Redneck Riviera is actually located above the Green Parrot
in Key West escapes me. Sometimes the Coconut Telegraph can
be stretched a bit thin. I'm sure our resident Pirate's
Wench would be able to confirm or deny this!..........Enjoy
the countdown everyone it has started for me 10
phold!!!!!...................Sooner!

Hey Sun!
Tickets for Vegas did in fact go on sale this past Saturday,
and I was able to purchase a handful. Now I'm just counting
the days until I head to Sin City! It won't come soon
enough. Anyone else out there making the trip?

Sun,
Ok, I'm holding you to this date!
One thing I like about the Vegas show is that you don't have
to worry about getting kicked out of the parking lot right
after the show. No worries about driving drunk. You can
wander around the casino while the alcohol works it's way
out of your system. Or, you can continue to take in
alcohol, as you see fit!

Okay lets try this again. This just in....a new on sale
date for Vegas - August 21st.
Vegas in October is cool. You are so correct MGM does Jimmy
and PH's right. The night we had floor tickets there must
have been a zillion beach balls in the air. Too much
fun! Have a great time, 12volt. Don't forget to visit
Margaritaville.

Sun,
I wouldn't call it 'bad' info, maybe just premature.
There's still nothing out on TM, Margaritaville or the MGM
site. I'm guessing (hoping) that tomorrow isn't the on sale
date. I could be wrong. I just want to make sure I'm
logged in when they go on sale! Of course, even if I don't
get tickets, what's the worst that happens? Six days in
Vegas in October. Not bad at all.
I've seen Jimmy in Vegas a couple times, and while I'm not a
fan of the indoor shows, MGM does a pretty good job of
accommodating the PH's!
Keep us posted on ticket info....

Hey Sunchild!
Just wondering, you mention that tickets to the Las Vegas
show go on sale tomorrow. I can't seem to find anything
online to verify that, and have called Ticketmaster and they
don't have any information. I've booked a trip out there
for the first show, and was wondering if tomorrow is the
official on sale date. As far as I can tell, nobody is even
acknowledging a show at this point, other than the
Margaritaville site.

We are down to the wire with registrations. We currently
have well over 2,700 registrants and are receiving an
average of 50 per day. Here is the game plan:
On the day we hit 3,000, we will close the online
registration at midnight. Any registrations that are
postmarked on that date will be honored. Any postmarked
after that date will be returned.
We expect to hit the 3,000 mark by Sunday, July 11, 2004 -
maybe a day earlier maybe a day later. If you plan to
register for MOTM, we suggest that you do so immediately!

especially the weather, was beautiful and they wished I was

The Tour continues in Manassas Virginia this Friday night

Hammocks and Jim Morris and the Big Bamboo Band playing
both days at the Battlefield motel poolside. The Tour will
move swiftly on to the Nissan Pavillion in Mannassas that
day to see Jimmy and the CRB once again blow the house

the small stage before the show begins.
The tour will end up the next day aboard the Cherry Blossom

you'll need it. People aren't very giving for some reason
when it comes to things like this. I did my relay for

support. My donations mostly came from friends and family

Hi y'all! - I've put my hat into the arena to be Jimmy's
running mate for the Stuff-It for Buffett campaign. Yeah,
I'm good at putting my neck on the line, but I'm hoping
HOPING to raise $10K for this cause. I need your club to
help me in this endeavor. The cause is the Cancer
Foundation of the Florida Keys.
Many of you have met my mom - who is a two time cancer
survivor. I am so fortunate that her cancer was detected
and treated very early both times, so I still have her as
my best friend. Her ordeal wasn't easy either time, but
she never complained or fussed.... has always simply been
happy to be alive and get through all that it takes.
Others are not so lucky.
Will you help me???? Each dollar contributed is a vote
for me and I would really like to meet this goal. I
challenge the VPHC club to do their level best to raise as
much dinero as possible for this cause.
Online donations are possible from 7/4 until 9/22 at
http://www.margaritaville.com/motm and can also be mailed
in to the Paradise Charitable Foundation through that date
as well. Two contenders who raise the most votes will
face off at MOTM. $1 equals one vote. All contributions
are tax deductible.
Thanks for anything you can do to help with this effort.

Hi-dee-ho Parrot Heads,
Its a brand new day, the sun is shining and we are alive.
Concert season is upon us and tropical revelers are
phlocking. Is there anything better.....well..okay there
is but you have to admit there is nothing better than
parrot head phriends. Love ya all.
PyrateJan, this kid is sooo envious, I have yet to see Hugo
and the FullSail Band....take pics please.
12volt, glad you are still around. Too bad you can't make
the concert this Saturday. Glad you are thinking MOTM.
Don't wait to long to register, we are already way past
last years numbers.
VPHC'ers if you will be at the Columbus Concert this Sat
May 22nd, and want to phlock with other VPHC members lets
do it. If you want to buy a club tee or tank, let
Hammerhead Tim (tshirts@vphc.com) or me know and you can
save postage by picking them up at the Holiday Inn on Lane
(that is where the Buckeye PHC has a party lined up for us
all).

Sun,
Yeah, I'm still here, still checking in regularly. One of
these days I'm even going to show up at a chat!
Have no plans on attending any shows this summer. So far.
That is always subject to change, however.
Nice to hear that Matt is still out there kicking, even if
he is a Buckeye! Shhh! Don't tell him I said that!
If my plans change at all, I'll be sure to let you know.
I am giving serious thought to MoTM again this year. There
is a good chance I will be attending. Offishally.
And for all those debating about the right venue to see a
show at, don't declare a favorite until you attend a show at
Pine Knob one of these years. I may be biased, but I've
seen shows in several locations, but nowhere does it like
Pine Knob, I'm sorry, DTE Energy Music Theater. Second to none!

Hey connie - no offense taken! But, no I assure you it was
well over an hours drive for milk. It was about 8 hours
drive time while stopping and working 4 stores during that
trip. with work, I manage over 3 states and drive about
10k miles a year. tax time is good to me for that reason.
Yeah, those three states may be the size of TX (its, OH, WV
and VA in case you were wandering) but its still lots of
drivetime!
I grew up in a small town in WV that was far away from
anything. when growing up we had to drive 45 minutes for a
gallon of milk, so I konw all about those days! closest
hospital was over an hour and a half. thank god we moved
when I got older. ha!

Sorry Matt... I don't mean at all to demean you journeys,
but how great a distance is that? I live in Texas and we
drive an hour here to go fetch a gallon of milk. I am
always rather bemused by folks that live in little states
and their tales of driving 1/2 hour to get from here to
there. Now... dear.. honestly, take no offense. None is
intended. I'm just curious.

Its that time of year again . . . RELAY FOR LIFE! An
annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society is
coming up here in Beckley, WV on June 18th, 2004.
The American Cancer Society holds these events once a year
in various towns throughout the USA. Teams are formed and
team-members raise money to walk around a track all night
long! This is a time of celebration, a time to celebrate
the passing of yet another year for those who have
survived this terrible disease, and a time to reflect in
memory of those who did not.
Jonathan Powell of Princeton, WV (also known as JOLLYMON
JON) lost his battle to Neuroblastoma, a form of childhood
cancer, in September 2002 at a young, yet brave age of 4.
For those of you who followed Jon's life story
("http://www.caringbridge.com/wv/jonpowell"
and "http://www.angelfire.com/wv2/ourbbay4" you know what
a long battle he fought. In memory of Jon again this year,
I am heading up a team in the name of the Jonathan Powell
Hope Foundation, Inc.. Jon s parents founded this last
year in order to provide financial assistance to those who
have children suffering from Neuroblastoma and other
childhood cancers. www.jonathanshope.org
Every one of us knows someone who has either had cancer in
the past or is suffering from it now. The American Cancer
Society provides financial assistance, emotional support,
cancer education and screenings, and support research that
we hope will lead to cures for many types of cancer.
The team will walk on June 18th from 6PM to 8AM to raise
money for the American Cancer Society. Our team goal is to
raise $5000 in Jon's memory! If we can get 500 people to
donate only $10.00 (tax deductible) to the team, we can
easily meet that goal! (and team members will get to shave
MATTS HEAD!!! Yes I will go bald for the $5000 donation)
If you are interested in helping us meet that goal, your
donation would be greatly appreciated. Please send a check
made payable to The American Cancer Society and mail to
Matt Bishop, 170 Rimview Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
You may also purchase a luminary (an additional $10
donation) that will be lit at 930PM during a lumination
ceremony later that evening along with the reading of the
list of names purchased for these luminaries. Please
indicate In remembrance of, or In honor of and the name of
the person on a note with your check.
Thanks for your consideration of this worthy cause... You
never know when the ACS may be helping you or someone you
love.
Sincerely,
Matt Bishop

The law sucks. No not the law we've been talking about,
that of trademarking names. The kind that protects
IDIOTS. My wife, 2 year old and I were hit by a drunk
driver today. The jerk left the scene of the accident. No
one was hurt, THANK GOD. But I got his plates and wrote
them down, called the police. THey found him moments later
at a BAR. Well, the guy was smart. He ran to a bar, went
in, started drinking then told the police when they
arrived that he got scared, ran to a bar and drank.
Therefore they can arrest him for leaving an accident, but
NOT for DUI. The lawmakers protect him. Although, my
wife, or my child could have been killed by this idiot
drunk. Please, if you drink, leave the keys alone. IT
was only a fender bender, this time. But wow, what I have
to Thank God for today. Rachel, LUke and myself are all
here, walking and talking.

Hey, RJ ... just from a legal stanpoint, once you trademark
a business name or trade name, you have to protect or your
trademark becomes worthless. Jimmy opened the chain of
restaurants, trademarked the name which is from a
copyrighted song title. If his legal beagels didn't file a
cease and desist, then it weakens JB's mark. And anytime
someone uses a name that is "deceptively similar" to a
trademarked name they expose themselves to a suit. And,
just for a little whipped cream on the sundae, the guy
said 'I don't even like his music' -- so he was just trying
to trade on JB's name and popularity to enrich himself.
It's not like JB sued the jerk for $$!!

good! I'm a little bummed out that Jimmy won't be stopping
through Chicago until the end of the summer again this
year, but I'll take it. We'll just have to toast the end
of the summer with him rather than the begining.
I hate to sound like a more of a Trekkie than a Parrot
Head, but I'm watching Live By The Bay on a lazy Saturday
here and during Coconut Telegraph, Jimmy says "did Frank
Bama ever find her...?"
This was recorded in '85, and Where Is Joe Merchant came
out in '92. Was James really writing that book for close
to 7 years??? Well, as a phellow writer, I guess I can see
that.
Well, I'll stop rambling...for now. Finz way up everybody!

12volt, good to see you online....Blossom sounds like fun
but it's a Thursday and need to save vacation options for
the MOTM. Will be in Columbus for sure.....meeting up with
Captn Matty so if you make it be sure and join us for the
pre-party (details to follow). Would be great to see you
again.
Wyldman does this mean you will be making taking care of
arrangements for the VPHC members to Meet & Eat at
Benihanas in Key West again? That would be very cool.
Concert information:
Pholks there are alot of rumors about concerts this
year...my understanding is that there will be a few more
concerts announced soon. However, there are no guarantees
on the rumored concerts. We can only hope. See you in the
parking lot(s).
Concert Parties:
Traveling to a concert, be sure and check out the concert
parties posted in the forums section under "License to

Hey Y'All!
There is a post on the CoBO site saying that Margaritaville
has released the summer tour dates. I'm just wondering if
anyone knows whether or not these are official. I've been
to Margaritaville and the only tour dates they have out
there, that I can see, are the April/May dates. If these
are official, looks like Detroit is being left out this
year. A road trip may be in order! Maybe the Blossom
Music Festival in Ohio, Sun!

Oh My GOsh - sorry I haven't been on here in awhile. When
Jimmy showed up at M-ville in December, I was emailing
everyone. I thought I had told you all the story about it,
but apparently not. I know it's a little late, but I'll
give you the condensed version. I was at Bahama Breeze
with a friend visiting from Virginia when I got a phone
call from a phellow board member who said "we're at M-
ville and Jimmy's here, get over here now!" Luckily BB is
just down the street, so we hauled but, ran through the
casino and got into M-ville in time to see him just
starting up on stage! It was awesome. He sang about 8
songs. Some girl was standing up front and talking on the
cell phone. Jimmy asks, who ya talking to, then got her
phone and had a mini conversation with her sister. He
asked her what she wanted him to play, then after
saying "No, I don't know any Prince" he taped the phone to
his mic and played a song for her. It was way cool. I was
very fortnuate to be in close proximity and be able to get
tehre in time. And my Va friend was doubly lucky becasue
he got to see ME AND Jimmy!
NYE was awesome for me. I went to Virginia and went on the
WAPHC cruise on the Potomac! It was a great time. That
club is really awesome and, from what I remember, I had a
blast on the cruise. I belive there's pictures some place
to prove to me that I had a good time! Happy New Year to
everyone!
Now, you all know Jimmy will be here next week for the
show at the Flamingo. I have been fortunate enough to be
one of the few (I believe 200) that got an INSIDE ticket!
Whooooo whoooo........so me and my closest friends (ha ha)
will be inside up close and personal for the smaller
intimate show! I can't wait. I will take pictures and if I
ever learn how to, will post some for you all!
Sorry this is so long, but I haven't checked on here in
awhile. I'll be back again a soon and also after this
weeks concert to tell you all about it!
Hurricane Dancer is at Pardi Gras partying her butt off
I'm sure!

MOTM and it is the best $50 you'll ever spend in your
life! For that $50 you get a tshirt, a special lanyard and
laminate, a goody bag full of really good stuff and access
to all of the "registered" only musical events. Keep an
eye on the PHiP site - as soon as things start getting
finalized there will be a schedule posted on the
entertainment as it is lined up. Also, our own Deb is the
registration chairperson and she will place you on a
MOTM '04 registered egroup so that you will get email
notification as soon as any new MOTM news is
available....and don't forget, you just need to log onto
our site to see how many days til MOTM officially starts!
As the time grows closer you'll also find more info about
what our club will be doing for MOTM (party, party,
